Modernisation of St Margaret of Cistercian Nursery School

Our design task was the preparation of the expansion and renovation plans for the St. Margaret’s kindergarten belonging to the Cistercian Education Centre in Pécs. A key element of the project was to increase the usable floor area of the existing building. This extension will provide the opportunity to transform the current cramped location of the nursery into a more comfortable space, designed to meet nursery standards. In addition, there was a need to renovate the existing building to the maximum extent possible within the budget. In this context, priority will be given to upgrading the kitchen’s building services.

The existing kindergarten building and several of the neighbouring buildings are listed. Thus, in the design of the new building wing to be constructed, particular importance is attached to the architectural quality of the historic integration, while the kindergarten should be designed to the highest architectural standards and to best meet the needs of young children.
